Mandela did not actually get a chocolate on his first school day. Why are you tweaking the history to sell your product/ idea?

In our campaign, the inclusion of Nelson Mandela’s real name, Rolihlahla, is a gesture of respect and honour for his legacy, not a distortion of history. We understand and acknowledge that Mandela did not receive a chocolate on his first school day; rather, the use of this detail serves a symbolic purpose.
By incorporating Mandela’s true name, we aim to celebrate his significance and the values he embodied, such as unity, respect, and the celebration of diversity. Our intention is to highlight the importance of names and cultural heritage in a way that connects to the broader theme of the campaign, which is about recognizing and honouring the richness of South African identity. The goal is not to alter historical facts but to use Mandela’s legacy to reinforce the campaign’s message of inclusivity and respect for all cultural backgrounds.
